This is an important alert informing you about upcoming extreme market conditions and how it may affect your trading. As you may be aware, the second round of the French presidential elections will take place on Sunday, 7th of May 2017. This is a major political event that is expected to impact the financial markets and may result in extreme market volatility, price gaps/spikes, lack of liquidity and considerably wider spreads (would affect even hedged positions). This applies particularly for currency pairs based in EUR and also CFDs on European indices.
Please be also aware that prices may turn indicative (i.e., non-tradable) for periods of time and your orders could be filled materially away from requested levels due to potential market dislocation and lack of liquidity. We would like you to be aware that we will continue to serve you as a broker during this period but an eventual lack of market liquidity may result in fill ratios being lower than would ordinarily be the case under normal market conditions.
As with the first round of presidential elections we have decided not to raise margins but we advise our clients to monitor their positions closely, ensuring adequate levels of collateral during these uncertain times.
Considering the above circumstances and with the usual aim of protecting our clients we may enforce close-only regime on certain currency pairs and CFDs. We may also stop trading on certain instruments earlier than normal close time. Accounts that accumulate substantial market exposure may see their account leverage lowered on a case-by-case basis. We will carefully monitor market conditions and should there be any further changes, we will contact you via email, trading platform or by changes on our website.
As a result of expected extreme market conditions and potential changes, you may need to close positions or add funds to your account or risk a possible margin closeout if you do not have enough funds in your account to cover the increased spreads and extreme market moves. If you plan to close positions before market close on Friday then please consider that spreads may be considerably wider during final hours due to lack of liquidity. We strongly advise you to perform the necessary funding actions well in advance, in order to ensure your account will be well-funded.
